Zakład Chemii Medycznej ma niezwykle krótką historię. Został powołany do życia w styczniu 2020 roku.
Głównymi zainteresowaniami naukowymi pracowników Zakładu jest synteza organiczna, chemia bioorganiczna, chemia medyczna, chemia alkaloidów, chemia analogów nukleozydów i nukleotydów, stereo-kontrolowana synteza organiczna oraz chemia supramolekularna.
Zakład utworzyło 5 samodzielnych pracowników naukowych, trzech adiunktów, 6 doktorantów oraz dwóch pracowników technicznych.
